Best Beaches in Essex
Enjoy a day at the sea this season. Essex beaches are excellent for people in London and the Southeast. On the one hand, great transport links make getting here and away pretty easy. On the other hand, our region hosts top-rated British beaches. In addition, with wonderful seaside cafes and cosy beach huts to enjoy, you’ll leave singing the praises of Essex beaches.
Firstly, Frinton on Sea. Year on year, Frinton Beach rates as one of Britain’s top beaches. Beautifully clean, the large sand and stone beach is lined with beach huts. Areas for swimming, sailing and windsurfing ensure everyone has space to enjoy their favourite beach activities. As there are no shops or arcades along the beach, Frinton-on-Sea provides a calm, old-fashioned experience. Plenty of free parking is available along the seafront.
Frinton-on-Sea is perfect for people looking for a clean, calm beach. In contrast to other Essex beaches, Frinton remains uncommercialised. However, the beach does have good amenities for visitors. These include a grassy picnic area, toilets and access to a coastal path. Dog owners should note that dogs are prohibited 1 May – 30 Sept. All in all, if you’re looking for a beach with relaxed charm, this is the place for you.
2. Clacton-on-Sea Beach
Next, no list of best beaches in Essex can be complete without mentioning Clacton Beach. The main beach offers a classic British seaside resort experience, including a Victorian pier. Moreover, there’s plenty more to entertain the whole family. For instance, enjoy a meal at one of the cafes or restaurants. Or play in the sea or at a fun fair. There’s so much to do here.
Offering clean golden sand and seasonal lifeguards, Clacton Beach is popular with families. However, this lovely beach can get busy. So if you fancy a less crowded day at the coast, try a stunning walk along Essex’s coast. From Clacton, you can ramble all the way to Walton-on-the-Naze! One of the many exceptional walks you can find in Essex. Lastly, lots of free parking is available along the seaside.
3. Three Shells Beach, Southend-on-Sea
Finally, Three Shells Beach. This Blue Flag Beach boasts many amenities for families and couples. For example, cafes offer food and drink. And while lifeguards provide safety, the shower facilities keep you clean after a dip. Moreover, with a paddling pool, climbing frames, huge pleasure pier and the Adventure Island amusement park there’s plenty to keep the children occupied.
These are three of our favourite beaches. Each offers a very different experience. However, there are many more beautiful beaches in Essex. Harwood House loves to share all that Essex has to offer.
