Stansted B&B for Winter Walks

Stansted B&B for winter walks

Ice thins at the edges first and is a good sign of the coming spring

Throughout the year there are many reasons travellers visit Great Dunmow. On the one hand, some guests come for Great Dunmow wedding accommodation or for V Festival accommodation. On the other hand, some are simply on their way through Stansted and prefer the a cosy place to stay en route via the Airport. Finally, for some, Great Dunmow and the Essex countryside is the destination. We have visitors for the Easter holiday who wander the Easter Villages taking in the beautiful spring scenery and medieval churches. While spring is certainly a wonderful time to visit, our corner of Essex offers plenty to see during the winter months as well. In fact, Harwood House is an excellent choice of Stansted B&B for winter walks.

Stansted B&B for Winter Walks

For guests wishing to experience winter in a more rural setting, Harwood House is the perfect base for some of the area’s best walking. Nearby Hatfield Forest provides a glimpse of a medieval hunting forest once used by kings and nobles. Indeed, fallow deer descended from the herd of King Henry I still roam the Forest. Hatfield Forest is a quick 15 minute drive from Harwood House. However, a more adventurous way of getting to the Forest is via a popular walking path which runs through Great Dunmow itself.

There is also, the Flitch Way. Located close to the steps of our Stansted B&B, the Flitch Way is a 15-mile route stretching from Braintree to Bishop’s Stortford. A converted railway line, it is now a scenic path perfect for walking, jogging and cycling. There are countless additional trails nearby with varying degrees of difficulty and all offering beautiful countryside scenery. Go to MapMyWalk.com to see the many regional trails you can enjoy.
